MOST ELEGANT

BLUESTONE STEPS

Bluestone is the premium choice for NJ front entry steps. Its natural blue-gray tone complements almost every home style, it’s incredibly durable, and it gets better-looking as it ages.

BEST VALUE

POURED CONCRETE STEPS

Properly formed and reinforced concrete steps are incredibly strong, long-lasting, and cost-effective. We pour with rebar reinforcement and proper drainage pitch so they won’t crack, shift, or puddle water.

MOST VERSATILE

PAVER STEPS & LANDING

Paver steps coordinate beautifully with paver driveways and walkways for a fully unified look. We build the base structure in block or concrete and cap with your choice of paver material and style.

BUILD TO CODE

SAFE, CODE-TRUE ENTRIES

Steps aren’t just aesthetic — they’re safety structures. Every set of steps we build meets NJ building code requirements for riser height, tread depth, and landing size. No guessing, no shortcuts.

PROPER RISER HEIGHT

NJ code requires risers between 4″ and 7.75″. We set every riser to the correct, consistent height — uneven risers are a trip hazard and a code violation.

CORRECT TREAD DEPTH

Minimum 10″ tread depth per NJ code. We build treads with a slight forward pitch so water drains away from the riser — no puddling, no ice.

LANDING SIZE

Top and bottom landings must be at least as wide as the stair and 36″ deep minimum. We build landings that meet code and feel spacious and welcoming.

HANDRAIL COMPLIANCE

Any stair with 4 or more risers requires a graspable handrail per NJ code. We coordinate railing installation or can refer trusted ironwork contractors.

COMMON QUESTIONS

STEPS & ENTRY FAQ

Why are my existing steps cracking and sinking?

The most common cause is that the original steps were built directly on soil or a shallow base that settled over time. NJ freeze-thaw cycles accelerate this. The fix is demolition and a proper new base — which is included in every job we do.

It depends on the scope and your town. Replacing existing steps in-kind often doesn’t require a permit, but adding steps where none existed or significantly changing the structure usually does. We check your town’s requirements before we start.

Absolutely — and we highly recommend it. We regularly combine step replacement with a new front walkway and landing for a fully cohesive front entry. It’s one of the best ROI projects a NJ homeowner can do.

What's the best step material for New Jersey?

Bluestone is our top aesthetic recommendation — durable, beautiful, and handles NJ winters well. Poured concrete with a stone cap is excellent for larger stoops. Paver steps work great when coordinated with a paver driveway or walkway.

Most residential step replacements are completed in 1–2 days. Larger stoops or projects with new landings may take 2–3 days. We give you a clear schedule in your estimate.

We build the masonry base for railing posts as part of every step job that needs them. For the ironwork itself, we can refer you to trusted local fabricators we’ve worked with for years.
